Liverpool fans will be encouraged to hear of Matthijs De Ligt’s update on defender Virgil van Dijk, after the Juventus star confirmed he’d caught up with ‘VVD’.
De Ligt is currently away on international duty with Holland, with Van Dijk still out injured and continuing his recovery.
The big Liverpool star has been missing for most of the season after suffering a season-ending injury at Everton. However, he is hoping to be back in the coming months, with a return before the end of the campaig not out of the question.

And De Ligt, who has caught up with Van Dijk this week, says the Liverpool star seems in good condition and spirits ahead of his return.
“He looked very good, he seemed very fresh and free. Of course, I don’t know how he feels physically, he doesn’t really want to put any pressure on himself either,” De Ligt said, via the Mirror.
“He has a clear mind and looks at it day by day. He is calm and wants to see where he’s at, at moment the Euros are starting. I think it’s important for him to be calm, and to be able to recuperate from his injury without any pressure from us or from the country. He will decide if he will be at the Euros. If he’s there, he’s there. If he’s not there, other guys will have to fill his shoes. But he looked well.”
Liverpool fans will, of course, be desperate to see Van Dijk back in action as soon as possible. His loss this season has been the stuff of nightmares, with many Reds blaming their poor campaign on the Dutchman’s injury.
TBR View: Liverpool need Van Dijk but there is no rush in reality
Barring a run to the Champions League final, then there’s no real reason for the Reds to rush VVD back.
The Premier League season is more or less done for them, barring the obvious top four spot they’ll be chasing. But in the main, there doesn’t seem any point in rushing the Dutch star back.
Of course, Holland would love to have him back this summer. De Ligt’s update, then, is encouraging news for all involved.
