Arsenal midfield general Granit Xhaka has been singing the praises of his boss, Mikel Arteta, and has picked out new signings Willian and Gabriel as being key to their season.
The Gunners moved to bring in the Brazilian pairing this summer, with Willian arriving on a free from Chelsea and Gabriel a big-money signing from Lille.
Both have already become integral to the way Mikel Arteta wants to set up, playing in and contributing to two wins from two for the Gunners already.
And Xhaka, who was speaking to SDA (via Goal), says the mentality, quality, and knowing how to win trophies that Willian brings is key.
“With Willian and Gabriel, Arsenal brought a lot of quality and mentality into the dressing room. Willian knows how to win titles”
The Swiss star is not wrong when it comes to Willian. The winger won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup, and a League Cup with Chelsea, while he’s also got his hands on the Copa America as well.
It’s that sort of winning focus that Xhaka – and Arteta – will be hoping the 32-year-old can bring to the Arsenal dressing room.
Willian an underestimated signing, he’s brilliant – TBR View
A few people raised eyebrows when Arsenal moved to sign Willian in the summer but Mikel Arteta knows what he is doing.
It’s not always about bringing in players who are young and can improve, sometimes you just need a winner and Willian is that.
He brings quality, of course, but the mentality side of things – as Xhaka points out – is equally as important. He’s a fine player and could well be crucial as the Gunners go in search of the top four.
