The transfer window is open, and Arsenal are, as ever, being linked with a number of new signings.
The rumour mill never stops turning when it comes to Arsenal, and there have been a few audacious links as of late.
There has been a bit of chat about the north London club moving for Matthijs De Ligt recently, but speaking on KS1TV, Steve Kay has poured cold water on this one.
The journalist says that De Ligt would be more of a summer option than a January option in any case, but even then, he can’t see the Dutchman coming to Arsenal.

De Ligt not coming in
Kay shared his verdict on the £68m defender’s future.
“De Ligt, that would be a summer thing anyway, and I can’t see that one happening. He isn’t going to come to Arsenal, no. Is he going to come in and take Gabriel’s place, is he? Gabriel has probably been better than Saliba this season you could say,” Kay said.
Silly season
This is why they call it silly season.
De Ligt would be a good signing for Arsenal, but let’s be real, he’s never going to join at this moment in time.
Arsenal are pushing it in terms of FFP restrictions as it is after spending over £200m in the summer, and if there’s one position they don’t need a superstar signing in, it’s at centre-half.
As Kay says, both William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes have been fantastic this season, and neither player needs replacing at the moment.
Factor in that Ben White, Jurrien Timber and Jakub Kiwior are all solid enough backups, and this transfer doesn’t make a lot of sense.
You’re going to hear plenty of rumours about Arsenal signing big name players over the next few weeks, but not all of these links will be viable.
Arsenal may well be busy this month, but De Ligt probably won’t come in.
