With Arsenal reportedly back in for Thomas Partey, BBC Sport pundit Micah Richards has waxed lyrical about the 27-year-old midfielder.
The Atletico Madrid ace has been linked with Arsenal for a number of months now and is said to be one of the number one targets for Mikel Arteta this summer.
With Houssem Aouar seemingly staying put at Lyon, Arsenal are widely reported to be making a late move to trigger Partey’s £45million release clause before the transfer window shuts.

“Thomas Partey – what a signing,” Richards told BBC Sport (17:19). “I cannot believe there are not more clubs lining up for him. He is so good. A lot of people just think about him defensively, but he has actually got quite a bit going forward.
He has scored goals for the national team and a few for Atletico Madrid as well. If Arsenal can get him it would be a massive deal for them. Arsenal are doing their business quietly, but if they would be able to get Partey it would be a massive statement.”
TBR View:
After sweating on a midfield enforcer for much of the transfer window, it finally looks as though there’s some positive progress regarding one of Arsenal’s reported top targets.
Speculation on Partey had petered out somewhat in recent weeks as the spotlight shone on Aouar, but it has now switched back to the Ghana international.
Should Arsenal succeed in snapping Partey up, it would cap off a superb window for the Gunners, who have made numerous shrewd acquisitions and got Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to pen a new deal.
