‘He is overachieving’: Sam Allardyce says one Tottenham man is doing way better than he should be

Tottenham have been the surprise package of the Premier League so far this season.

The north London club have lost just one game so far this season, and they’re doing way better than anyone expected them to.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Sam Allardyce has been discussing Spurs’ fantastic start to the season, and the former England manager claimed that Ange Postecoglou is overachieving as the Spurs coach right now.

Postecoglou is overachieving

Allardyce shared his verdict on the Tottenham boss.

“To do it without Harry Kane is something special. You know what it’s like in this game when you’re overachieving, and I think he is overachieving, he’s getting more out of that squad than Jose did or more than Conte, they’re labelled the world’s best coaches, and he has them playing how they are playing without Harry Kane,” Allardyce said.

Wait and see

It’s easy to say that Postecoglou is overachieving at the moment, but it’s impossible to say that you genuinely know he’s not going to be at this level forever.

Yes, he was unproven at this level before this season, but let’s not forget, he was hugely successful at Celtic, and he seems to have carried that over to Spurs.

In terms of what Postecoglou is doing with this squad, he’s getting more out of them than he we ever imagined he would, but that isn’t to say that he’s overachieving. Great managers do this, and it may just be a case that Postecoglou is a great manager.

It’s early days, but it looks like Postecoglou is the real deal, and this supposed overachievement may just be the level that the Australian is genuinely at.

There certainly aren’t many more exciting managers in the Premier League than Postecoglou at the moment.
