Ally McCoist has now been slightly baffled by how Unai Emery described one of his Aston Villa players after yesterday’s Brentford win.
Villa were behind for much of the game but made haste of Ben Mee’s red card to secure a superb three points.

And when discussing Villa’s win and Unai Emery’s post-match comments, McCoist couldn’t believe some descriptions the manager used.
Emiliano Martinez was embroiled in a lot of controversy during the game, as he often is.
However, after the game Emery said that Martinez was ‘responsible’ and ‘mature’.
Something that McCoist found very amusing, given he thought Emiliano Martinez was absolutely mad.
Speaking on talkSPORT, McCoist said: “He’s effectively not, he’s the opposite, I actually wrote those two words down: ‘responsible’ and ‘mature’ and I put a question mark after both of them because that’s the last thing he is.
“I thought his antics at the World Cup final, listen I know you’re excited you’ve just won the World Cup, but I thought they were embarrassing.
“Particularly against the man who just stuck the ball by him four times including the penalty, you know, it was amazing.
“That said, if ever living proof was required that the age of statement that goalkeepers are mad, Martinez is keeping that flame flying and shining bright, because he is mad.”
Ally McCoist left baffled by Unai Emery’s comments on Villa’s Emiliano Martinez
Of course, as McCoist alludes to, a lot of the game’s best goalkeepers have been strong characters.
The likes of Jens Lehmann, Oliver Kahn and Manuel Neuer all spring to mind, goalkeepers you would not want to be on the wrong side of.

And although Martinez hasn’t quite reached that echelon of success in the view of some, he is getting close.
And much like the names above, a huge part of Martinez’s game is his mental fortitude, which he expresses for all to see.
Perhaps Martinez’s antics do undermine his concentration at times, but they also make him the great player he is.
Clearly Unai Emery isn’t too concerned, and McCoist must recognise that he is simply defending his Villa keeper.
And with three points in the bag, Villa fans won’t be giving the antics too much thought moving forwards.
Away from the Brentford game, an interesting fact about Martinez’s move to Villa has also now come to light.
