Alexandre Lacazette is in the headlines over his lack of goals and the uncertainty over his Arsenal future.

Mikel Arteta knows he needs changes up front during the summer transfer window but it remains to be seen who will be there next season.

He told Sky Sports that it is difficult for the Frenchman right now, and that he wishes he had a more prolific set of forwards to choose from in the run-in.

“It is difficult sometimes because he is having talks as he said,” said Arteta of Lacazette.

“Your future is there to be decided. At the same time, he comes here every day, he’s the captain when he’s here and he’s fully committed.

“He is fully committed. This is our reality. I wish I had 40 goals in the team. I have three players in the squad in the next seven games are going to score 21 goals, I go to sleep very nice.”

It is clear that Arsenal need a more prolific frontman than Lacazette next season and their ability to attract one of the right quality may depend on whether they get into the Champions League or not.

Lacazette is currently out of action and David Ornstein says that the Frenchman has tested positive for Covid, and his information is nothing else is going on.

But it is not ideal for the captain and starting striker to have such uncertainty over his future at such a key stage of the season and a more reliable option up front would be ideal for Arteta.
