'He is back': Jurgen Klopp provides update on £120k-a-week Liverpool man
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is back in training for the Reds.
The 27-year-old has missed Liverpool’s last two games due to illness.
But speaking ahead of the Reds’ Premier League trip to Burnley on Wednesday, Klopp revealed that the midfielder is available once again.
“Ox was ill, (so) yes, Ox is back,” the Liverpool boss told the club’s media team.
“Naby (Keita) wasn’t part of team training yet so that will not be enough until tomorrow for sure. Ox was in team training so he is back.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain has endured another frustrating campaign at Anfield, missing four months due to a knee injury picked up in pre-season.
Since returning to action, the England international has largely been limited to appearances off the bench, with just two starts under his belt all season.
However, Klopp retains faith in the £120,000-a-week ace, giving him a vote of confidence earlier this month.
“The summer is important for all of us, and for Ox it’s exactly the same,” the German is quoted by Goal.com as saying.
“When you don’t start games, then you have to use each training session and each minute on the pitch in a game to convince.
“I don’t have to be convinced, to be honest, but it’s about showing up in these kind of situations. Oxlade had really good moments. He trains really well.”
