Declan Rice slammed by Simon Jordan as row over switching from Ireland to England continues

Declan Rice has been in the headlines for a full week now as the row over his switch from Ireland to England seems to rage on.

While the media make a big deal of Lee Carsley not wanting to sing a national anthem, a lot is also being made of Rice and Jack Grealish.

The pair famously played for Ireland before switching over to play for England and in a remarkable twist at the weekend, both players scored in England’s 2-0 win.

Rice admitted before and after the game that he was keen to put the whole matter to bed and move on.

However, as usual, Simon Jordan has offered up his opinion on the matter and has actually dug Rice out a bit.

Simon Jordan not happy with Declan Rice

Speaking on TalkSPORT about Rice and his switch from Ireland and England, Jordan actually accused Rice of not wanting to take any sort of responsibility.

“Declan Rice chose England because Declan Rice thought that it was better for Declan Rice,” Jordan said.

“Once upon a time, he played for the Irish. He showed no loyalty to the Irish, and he has now shown in this conversation no loyalty to the English because he wants to sit in the middle and be completely removed from any kind of critical observation.”

Rice and Grealish row is getting ridiculous

While everyone is entitled to an opinion on this and some will feel more strongly than others, it really is just getting a bit out of hand now.

The matter should be closed and put to the back of people’s minds. We are going over something which happened six years ago and Rice now has more than 50 caps for his country.

Scoring a goal at the weekend was probably the best thing Declan Rice could have done and while some will feel it fanned the flames, his celebration proved he had respect for the situation.

Jordan’s comments here are not surprising but come the weekend, this will all be forgotten about and something else will be in the spotlight.
