A player who Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on has been described as an “athletic” player who is a “creator” and has stamina akin to “several lungs” (La Provence).

According to The Express, Jose Mourinho’s Spurs are monitoring Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson, along with Premier League rivals Everton, West Ham, Manchester United and Southampton.

French outlet Le Phoceen also claims Premier League strugglers and League Cup finalists Aston Villa are looking to sign the 25-year-old, who Le10 Sport claims is valued at £30million.

Furthermore, the former France Under-21 man is reported to have an agreement with the Ligue 1 outfit – who are under pressure to raise funds to avoid Financial Fair Play sanctions – to leave the club this summer.

Marseille defender Boubacar Kamara has provided a glowing appraisal of his teammate, telling La Provence: “He is athletic. He is a creator.

“I sometimes wonder how he can think of certain actions on the pitch. He has several lungs, he helps us a lot, he sacrifices himself to open spaces for us. He is evolving. For me, he is a very good player and he will become a very great player.”

A glowing appraisal indeed from Kamara towards Sanson, who has progressed nicely over the course of his career and has helped Marseille to fourth in his first full season, fifth last year, and on course for a second-placed finish this term.

Admittedly, Spurs already have a glut of central midfielders at their disposal, but Sanson is versatile, having also played in defensive midfield and attacking midfield, and also has a knack for claiming goals and assists.

At Montpellier, he claimed 13 goals and 13 assists in 106 appearances, while his record to date for Marseille is 22 goals and 18 assists in 137 appearances.
