Frank Leboeuf has suggested that he finds one Manchester United player very, very interesting after Erik ten Hag’s side beat Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Manchester United got back to winning ways against Sean Dyche’s side after losing the Manchester derby last weekend. However, it was not the most convincing display from United, with the home side needing two penalties to secure the three points in the first-half.
It was Alejandro Garnacho who won both of the spot-kicks. Initially, he was fouled by a lazy challenge from James Tarkowski as the Argentinian looked to cut inside from out wide.

And the second came about from a clumsy foul from Ben Godfrey, with Godfrey standing on the winger’s foot just inside the area.

Bruno Fernandes – who scored the opening goal – was the only Manchester United player to have more attempts on goal than Garnacho, according to Whoscored. And speaking to ESPN, Frank Leboeuf suggested that the 19-year-old brought a level of excitement that the game desperately lacked.
“I saw Garnacho on fire. I mean, I love that kid. He has no shame, no shyness. He goes for it. And he’s very, very interesting,” he said.
Very bright future ahead
Garnacho is obviously not the finished article just yet. But given what Manchester United fans have had to sit through over the last decade, he is definitely someone they can be excited about.
Garnacho still needs to work on his decision making. He rarely crosses the ball into the box when he gets into those dangerous positions out wide. Instead, he will mostly look to cut inside when he is out on the left. And that can make the youngster fairly predictable.
But clearly, there is a player which opposition teams can really struggle to contain. Everton were poor with the two penalties they gave away. But they will not be the only side who cannot deal with Garnacho’s trickery.
