Glasgow Rangers winger Ryan Kent has been praised by Premiership newcomer Connor Randall, who is looking forward to facing the Ibrox ace and renewing acquaintances with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Michael Beale.

Randall came through the ranks at Liverpool along with Kent, and was helped through the ranks by Gerrard’s current assistants Beale, Tom Culshaw and Jordan Milsom, who coached the English giants’ youth team at the time.

The 24-year-old made eight competitive senior appearances for the Reds before leaving in 2019 and joining newly-promoted Bulgarian First League side Arda Kardzhali in September.

Now at Ross County, Randall is looking forward to meeting some of the individuals who he crossed paths with earlier in his career, Kent being one of them.

“He was the year below but once you get to the 18s you play in the 21s too,” he told the Daily Record. “He has done well up here and has been fantastic. There are a few lads I know so it will be nice to meet them on the pitch.”

Kent enjoyed a bright season on loan at Rangers from Liverpool in 2018-19, scoring six goals and registering six assists in 23 Premiership appearances.

This prompted Steven Gerrard to splash out a reported £7million for the then 22-year-old last September, and he was tipped to be a game-changer in the Gers’ quest for title number 55.

However, 2019-20 ended up being a somewhat disappointing campaign for Kent, who failed to register a single assist in 21 Scottish Premiership appearances.

That said, he was not the only Ger to disappoint, not by a long stretch, and with Gerrard already in the process of bolstering his ranks, such as signing Ianis Hagi permanently, hopefully they can last the distance.
