'He don't care about nothing': Dejan Kulusevski makes claim about what Tottenham man is like in training

Dejan Kulusevski has lifted the lid on what Antonio Conte has been like with his Tottenham players during the World Cup break.

Sweden did not qualify so Kulusevski has been able to focus on getting fully fit ahead of the second part of the Premier League season.

Spurs rounded off their preparation for the resumption of the Premier League with a 1-1 draw with Nice last night at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

After that game, he told the Independent that Conte has been as uncompromising as you may expect from a man with his reputation for demanding success.

Kulusevski on Conte

He said of Conte: “He is good! He don’t care about nothing, you’ve just got to do the work. It don’t matter if you’re cold, if you’re hurt. It don’t matter if it’s dark or if it’s raining, you’ve just got to do the work and that’s how it is supposed to be.

“Yeah, I think it was a little harder than pre-season. We did a lot of running, a lot of gym. It has been a lot of training, been so much running in the dark but in a way that is fun. It’s fun also with your team-mates, with your brothers so we’ve been enjoying it.

“We worked a lot on our pressing and it is important we get better. We won the ball a few times up high (against Nice) but I think that the next thing is when we win the ball, we have to choose the right pass so we can score.

“I feel very good. Now I think it is just the moment to rest for these three or four days before the real games start. I think the work has been done and it is time to recover and be ready for Monday.”

Conte really pushes his sides hard with his fitness demands but his approach in the first half of the season was slightly hard to discern.

Spurs would start games really slowly before coming into them, but sometimes the match was gone before they had woken up.

Perhaps that was a response to the unprecedented demands of the season and we will see if that strategy changes now, and as Kulusevski said, there has been a chance for even more fitness work since.
