‘He does nothing’: Rio Ferdinand rips into Leeds player in defeat to Leicester

Rio Ferdinand has criticised Leeds United’s Stuart Dallas for the role he played in the Whites’ defeat at Leicester.

Jesse Marsch’s first game in charge of Leeds ended in a frustrating 1-0 defeat.

The Whites played well, looked more solid at the back, and had many chances to get something from the game.

However, Kasper Schmeichel’s heroics in the Leicester goal and a lapse in the Leeds back line cost them dear.

The hosts got the winner in the second half with their one moment of attacking quality.

Harvey Barnes exchanged passes with Kelechi Iheanacho before slotting across Illan Meslier with a first-time finish.

Dallas struggled to deal with Barnes for much of the game and was slow for the one-two that led to Leicester’s goal.

He got drawn in and left Barnes – who was meant to be his man – behind him.

“The wrong thing”

Ferdinand, speaking on BT Sport’s live coverage, felt the 30-year-old should’ve made a decision instead of hesitating.

“He (Dallas) does nothing in the end,” said the former Leeds defender (5/3/22, 14:40).

“Everything he does here is probably the wrong thing.”

It’s not been a great week for Dallas – first his shocking miss against Spurs last Saturday, now this.

Nonetheless, it was a much improved performance for Leeds. Just a shame they couldn’t get something out of the game.

The Whites currently sit two points clear of the bottom three.

Both Burnley and Norwich lost today, but Watford and Everton are yet to play.
