‘He can’t be happy’: Gary Lineker reckons £25m Arsenal player really won’t be pleased now

Aaron Ramsdale’s season hasn’t exactly gone to plan at Arsenal.

The England goalkeeper signed a new deal with the Gunners this summer and he must’ve thought he was gearing up for another campaign where he’s gunning for a Premier League title.

However, the late signing of David Raya at the Emirates has seen Ramsdale relegated to be the Gunners’ number two, and that doesn’t show any signs of changing anytime soon.

Speaking on the BBC Match of the Day Top 10 Podcast, Gary Lineker has been discussing Ramsdale’s situation, and he’s stated that he believes the goalkeeper won’t be happy at all with his current predicament at Arsenal.

Ramsdale won’t be happy

Lineker shared his verdict on the £25m goalkeeper.

“He’ll play in the Carabao and the FA Cup probably. But he can’t be happy, Raya had a nervous few minutes against City where he got away with a couple and you could see Ramsdale on the touchline. There was another one where he made a great save, and Ramsdale was clapping and I thought ‘well done mate’ because he’s disguised brilliantly his inner feelings,” Lineker said.

Fuming

Ramsdale will never show it, but we have to imagine that he’s absolutely fuming on the inside about his role in this Arsenal team.

Make no mistake about it, after signing his new contract, Ramsdale will have expected to be the number one, but he’s found himself barely playing this term.

No footballer likes to sit on the bench, but that role is even more frustrating if you’re a goalkeeper as it’s very rare for a goalie to be dropped halfway through a season.

Ramsdale’s best bet may be to look for a way out of Arsenal in January, because, at the moment, his situation really isn’t ideal.
