'He can leave': Some Manchester City fans slam 'lazy' world-class' talent after transfer update
Some Manchester City supporters have slammed Aymeric Laporte following the latest transfer update surrounding the defender.
Sport report that the Spanish international is putting pressure on the City board to sanction a transfer to FC Barcelona this summer. Laporte lost his starting XI spot last season to John Stones and Ruben Dias.
The 27-year-old defender is seemingly a favourite in the Spanish press to join Barcelona in the transfer window. Indeed, there is growing momentum that Laporte could actually leave City this summer for the La Liga giants.
With Gerard Pique in the latter years of his career and centre-back options at Barcelona being hampered by injury last season, Laporte is a realistic transfer option for the Catalonian side.
And City supporters are starting to open to the idea of the Basque defender leaving this summer, in large part due to his attitude towards not playing first-team football.
Barcelona have already signed two City players this summer. Sergio Aguero joined the La Liga giants following the expiration of his contract with the Cityzens. Whilst Eric Garcia followed the Argentina to the Blaugrana a few days later.
Here’s what some fans had to say about Laporte leaving for Barcelona this summer on Twitter…
Really disappointed in Aymeric. He is world class and I want him to stay but if he can't be asked to challenge for a place in the starting 11 and if he wants to be lazy, he can leave. Good luck to him in Barca if this move goes through.— Arnav (@King_Kevin100) June 14, 2021
Let him go then— dan (@dan_mcfc04) June 14, 2021
Really disappointed in his attitude. Stones last summer was on the verge of being sold. Fast forward a year and he was vital in us winning the league and getting to the champions league final and earned himself a place in the pfa toty. Expected better from laporte icl— 🇧🇼 (@okayokay12321) June 14, 2021
1 season being out of the team and that’s how he behaves. Bye lad 😂— KP (@NettyCiteh) June 14, 2021
Difference between Stones and Aymeric seems clear then— oli 🏴🇧🇼 (@mcfcoli_) June 14, 2021
Can’t fight for his spot , arrogant bad attitude and if this is true , although he’s amazing done a lot for the club he doesn’t deserve to be in it no more— 🤫 (@_tamegx) June 14, 2021
Laporte played well over 2,000 minutes for City last season, picking up a third Premier League winners medal with the club.
