Tottenham Hotspur may have received a boost in their pursuit of Youri Tielemans.

BBC Sport report Premier League champions Manchester City expect David Silva to see out his final year at the Etihad Stadium.

It was reported recently that Silva might have jumped ship, with a club in Qatar having put a lucrative offer on the table for the Spaniard (The Sun).

The Sun reported that City were looking at Tielemans to possibly replace the 33-year-old, but perhaps those plans will now be shelved.

Tottenham have frequently been linked with a move for Tielemans and could now have a clearer run at the Belgian midfielder.

TBR’s view

Spurs need someone to replace Mousa Dembele and AS Monaco player Tielemans has proven on loan at Leicester City that he is more than capable.

The Foxes want him permanently and will arguably be Tottenham’s strongest competition for the player.

But City being confident in Silva next term could well be the window of opportunity for Daniel Levy to steal in for Tielemans, who would cost around £40 million as reported by HLN in April.

City have also been linked with a move for another Tottenham target James Maddison, so perhaps Silva staying up would mean they don’t go in for him either.
