‘Have to be cautious’: Christian Pulisic raves about ‘incredible’ Arsenal player ahead of final

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been praised by Chelsea attacker Christian Pulisic ahead of the FA Cup final between the two sides (ESPN).

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners will lock horns with Frank Lampard’s Blues at Wembley on Saturday, with Aubameyang and Pulisic very much their respective sides’ main dangermen.

The Arsenal talisman will be hoping to lift his first trophy in North London, having finished as runner-up in the Europa League last season and in the League Cup in 2017-18.

Likewise, Pulisic is also awaiting his first winner’s medal at Chelsea, having arrived at Stamford Bridge after the Blues beat the Gunners in the Europa League final last year.

Aubameyang and Pulisic were teammates at Borussia Dortmund and remain close, with the former advising the latter on life in London prior to leaving the Signal Iduna Park.

“I know him quite well,” Pulisic told ESPN. “He is incredible, the way he gets in good areas.

“He’s always dangerous, so we are definitely going to have to be cautious of that, and they have some other good players. But he is definitely one guy that you have to look out for.

“We’ll always be good friends. I played together with him for a long time. Right now, we are definitely focused and want to win. It is going to be a good battle; and not so much on the pitch, but we will always be friends off the pitch.”

It’s great to see such respect from Pulisic towards his friend and former teammate prior to the final, but for at least 90 minutes this weekend, they’ll become foes, given they have jobs to do, fans to please, and history to write.

Arsenal will be desperate to finish a lacklustre and transitionary season with a major trophy, but it’s also Chelsea’s best chance of silverware this term, unless the Blues can successfully overturn their 3-0 first-leg deficit away at Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
