Nathan Redmond netted his first brace in two years as Southampton saw off Wolves 3-1 at St Mary’s on Saturday afternoon.
It was another impressive result and performance from a Saints side who have been revitalised under Ralph Hasenhuttl and Redmond is a player who has impressed as much as anyone.
Speaking to the Sunday People’s Total Football Pullout, page 7, 14/04, Hasenhuttl lifted the lid on how he’s helped the Englishman transform his game. He said: “We have a great relationship.
“I’ve given him a little bit of everything. Sometimes the soft shoulder, others being very demanding of him. He’s learning that he can be the man who makes the difference.”

Southampton had the makings of a good squad, who were just underperforming before Hasenhuttl’s appointment and Redmond has always been a player capable of troubling defences in the top flight.
Hasenhuttl has brought in a high-tempo style of play which gets Southampton on the front foot and that’s bringing the best out of Redmond, who Spotrac claim earns £60,000 a week.
He can be a genuine threat but now he is adding goals and consistency to his game and if that continues, an England call-up should beckon in a squad that could still do with some more variety and pace from wide.
