Liverpool star Xherdan Shaqiri has surely earned the right to an extended run of games in Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup.
The Switzerland international took full advantage of the start handed to him against Red Star Belgrade on Wednesday in the Champions League, and was sensational in the first half.
The summer signing from Stoke City wreaked havoc as the most advanced midfielder, and showed excellent work rate as well as class on the ball.

With Gini Wijanldum and Fabinho covering, Shaqiri was afforded the freedom to help out in attack.
The role seemed to suit him perfectly. He has surely now given Klopp a selection headache for the weekend Premier League game with Cardiff City.
Is Shaqiri the answer to Liverpool’s creative issues?
So far this season the Reds haven’t been as clinical compared to last term.
Klopp’s side are winning games and that’s the most important thing but, certainly before the Red Star game, scoring goals has proven more difficult this time around.

The midfield had not been providing any kind of creativity, but Shaqiri’s showing against the Serbians, and his cameos in the Premier League – especially against Southampton – suggest he can be the man to resolve the issue.
He now has five assists already, and the front three look more dangerous with him supplying them.
He’s had to bide his time, but his big European performance may finally see him get the run of games he probably does deserve.
