'Has what it takes': Some fans think Liverpool player is set for international superstardom

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has been tipped by numerous fans to become the face of the Portugal national team when Cristiano Ronaldo retires.

The 24-year-old has been superb for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds since his £41million move from Wolves in September, registering 13 goals and one assist this season.

Jota has managed to do what appeared unthinkable at the start of the season, namely break up Liverpool’s front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.

However, the Portuguese was sidelined from early December to late February due to a knee injury, and the Reds missed him badly.

Where EVERY Euro 2020 Squad Would Finish In The Premier League

Jota has missed Liverpool’s last two games but is now in contention for the Reds’ final game of the Premier League season, against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Sunday.

In just two weeks’ time, Portugal will play the first of two friendlies ahead of Euro 2020, where they’re in a difficult group alongside France, Germany and Hungary.

At 36 years of age, Ronaldo is in the twilight of his career, and even though he’s still playing superbly and showing no signs of slowing down, it’s  not surprising to hear fans discuss who could be his successor for Portugal.

And for these supporters, the Anfield ace is their choice of player to take over from the phenomenal Juventus man:
