'Has to be a joke?': Liverpool fans bemused at reports they won't seek Wijnaldum replacement

Liverpool fans have been left less than impressed after reports suggested the club won’t seek a replacement for the outgoing midfielder, Gini Wijnaldum.

The Dutch midfield star called time on his Liverpool career last week, with a guard of honour in front of the Anfield faithful. Wijnaldum leaves following a successful spell, in which he capture both the Champions League and Premier League.

Liverpool won’t sign Gini Wijnaldum replacement

Liverpool moved to sign Ibrahima Konate yesterday. However, despite that big capture, The Athletic claim there’ll be no such spend on a replacement for Wijnaldum.

Instead, it is claimed Jurgen Klopp is content with the likes of Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. In fact, the Reds boss is so happy, that he’s even prepared to sell Marko Grujic, who is another midfielder.

But on a day of positivity after the Konate signing, the stance on Wijnaldum has left some Reds fans baffled. Twitter was awash with Liverpool supporters commenting on the reports.
