Wolverhampton Wanderers appear unlikely to be able to sign a former target of theirs, Manchester City star Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The Ukraine international came close to joining the Molineux outfit last summer, but rejected a £16 million move (The Mirror).
The player was reluctant to leave the Etihad Stadium at the time and wanted to fight for his place in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI.

Since deciding to stay put, Zinchenko has made 17 appearances for the Citizens. He’s started five Premier League games and impressively made three assists from left-back.
He’s done well filling in for the injured Benjamin Mendy, and he’s also caught the eye for his country in UEFA Natios League action.
Have Wolves missed out?
Zinchenko has drawn praise from his manager for his performance levels this term, and the player has revealed he is keen to keep it up to prevent Guardiola spending big on another left-back.
He said, as quoted by The London Evening Standard: “We will see what happens, but I am ready to fight for this place.
“I want to learn from all of them in this club and I just try and take the best from them.

“Of course there is a pleasure when the manager like Pep is talking about you like this, but I don’t read the newspapers, I just have to be fully focussed on my game.”
It seems as though the ship could have sailed for Wolves to return for Zinchenko. He has really established himself as a handy player for City.
He would make for a fantastic signing, but whether Guardiola would want to lose him after proving his worth this term is another question.
