Has Steve Bruce hinted that he will recall Newcastle star Miguel Almiron?

Newcastle United travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday for a Premier League fixture and they’ll be looking to build on seven points from their opening five games.

Magpies boss Steve Bruce appears to have a slightly larger squad this season at St James’ Park to pick from, meaning there has been a rotation policy going on so far.

However, attacker Miguel Almiron is one individual that hasn’t featured too regularly during this campaign so far and that’s quite the surprise considering his talent.

The speedster has only started in one league game so far and played just two minutes in the previous two games.

He’s been excellent in the Carabao Cup competition, but he’ll be desperate to play more.

Bruce has explained that he was only given a late cameo against Manchester United on Saturday due to the fact he was late travelling back from international duty with Paraguay, as well as detailing why he was an unused substitute before the two-week break against Burnley.

“He didn’t play at the weekend [against Man United] because he had just been halfway around the world and didn’t get back until Friday. The Burnley game was mainly that other players had come into the team and done very well. He’s a top player and is in my thoughts for the weekend,” Bruce said, as quoted by the club’s official Twitter account.

Has bruce hinted at Almiron’s recall?

After a lack of game-time recently, Bruce has been extremely positive about Almiron in his pre-match press conference for the Wolves clash and he may have hinted that he’s set for a recall by stating he’s in his thoughts.

The left-footed attacker has the qualities to play in wide areas, but perhaps looks more threatening in a number 10 position and that’s been the case in his cup performances.

He was a nailed-on starter last season under Bruce and he’s had to be patient waiting for his opportunities recently, but it sounds like Newcastle fans may get to see him back in action as changes after a 4-1 defeat to Manchester United would make sense.
