Sky Sports pundit Matt Le Tissier has praised Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, naming him in his Premier League Team of the Season.
The Gabon international is arguably Arsenal’s most important player, having scored 20 goals in all competitions this season and taking over the Gunners team captaincy.
Since his £56million move to the Emirates Stadium in January 2018, Aubameyang has registered 61 goals and 13 assists for Arsenal in all competitions.
Aubameyang’s efforts this term have seen him named in two Sky Sports pundits’ teams of the season – Phil Thompson and Le Tissier.
“Last, but not least, I am going with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang,” wrote the latter.
“His record since coming into an Arsenal team that has not been great, tells you all you need to know.
“His goals defy logic in the side he is playing in and he has proved his importance to that team, carrying them at times with the goals he scores.”
Aubameyang has been nothing short of sensational during his time at Arsenal and he has worked miracles this season to keep the Gunners’ hopes a European place intact, just about.
However, his contract expires at the end of the 2020-21 season and contract talks between the striker and the Emirates Stadium outfit have so far failed to provide a breakthrough.
With potentially one last big contract in him, it remains to be seen whether Aubameyang will stay put at Arsenal – either on a new deal or until his contract expires – or be sold in the summer.
