Has Marvelous Nakamba just hinted he’s about to join Aston Villa on Instagram?

Aston Villa have been linked with a swoop for Club Brugges midfielder Marvelous Nakamba this summer, as they seek to put together a squad ready for the demands of the Premier League.

The latest on the saga from Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad is that the player is refusing to train in order to force through his move to Villa Park.

And now he may well have dropped an Instagram hint that he’s off to the West Midlands – he’s followed the club’s official account.

He also follows new Villa record signing Wesley, but the two were team-mates with the Belgian club last season, although perhaps the fact he’s also followed the Premier League adds another layer.

In an era where supporters are desperate for transfer news as soon as it happens or clues so they can be ahead of the game, this kind of thing can be pored over.

At the very least, the follow signals that Nakamba is keen on the switch, even if the report says that the sides remain a distance apart in terms of the valuation.

Dean Smith needs a combative midfielder to replace the released Glenn Whelan and Nakamba would be a major upgrade, as a far younger and more mobile option.
