Everton host Newcastle United at Goodison Park on Wednesday night in the Premier League and manager Marco Silva may have hinted at some good news for youngster Ademola Lookman.
The Toffees haven’t had long to recover since the agonising 1-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday and Silva has explained he could make personnel changes.
He has revealed that he was pleased with the performance of attacker Lookman off the bench against Liverpool, with the suggestion that he could finally be in line for a first league start of the season.
“He (Lookman) did well, 30 minutes against Liverpool and he is more than ready to start tomorrow’s match [against Newcastle],” Silva said in his pre-match press conference, as cited by the Liverpool Echo.
“We don’t have much time to recover from the last match so hopefully we will have more time to prepare in the future. It is possible I make some changes.”
Lookman has dazzled with cameos so far this campaign and a starting role in the league is long overdue.
The 21-year-old is a blistering winger that can cause havoc with his dribbling and it would make sense to unleash him on Newcastle on Wednesday.
Out-of-form Theo Walcott is hardly pulling up any trees in the Everton XI and teammate Lookman has been waiting patiently for a chance, with substitute appearances proving he can make a positive impact in the Premier League and that was certainly the case in the Merseyside derby.
Silva has almost hinted that Lookman may be ready for a starting role and supporters have been pleading for him to get his chance since he ripped it up on loan with RB Leipzig last season.
