Glasgow Rangers have previously been linked with a move for Craig MacGillivray and he could potentially have edged closer to a departure from his current club and thus a switch to the Ibrox side.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper, who was born in Perthshire, currently plies his trade for English League One side Portsmouth and was linked with Rangers in December last year for a reported £2.5million.
The Scottish Sun claimed that Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was on the lookout for a new goalkeeper for next season, with Wes Foderingham out of contract this summer and Allan McGregor turning 39 next year.

MacGillivray featured prominently for Portsmouth last season and in the first half of the current campaign, but he has not featured at all this calendar year, Alex Bass since taking over first-team goalkeeping duties.
Now, Portsmouth have brought in another goalkeeper, signing 21-year-old American stopper Duncan Turnbull on Thursday, which could see MacGillivray slip further down the pecking order and perhaps push him closer towards a move elsewhere – possibly Ibrox.
TBR View:
Initial reaction by some Portsmouth fans by MacGillivray being linked with Rangers last year suggested they’d be sorry to see him go, but as good as he seems, finding himself benched at League One level and without a minute of first-team action this calendar year is a bit concerning.
Likewise, a £2.5million price tag seems quite steep for such a player, although whether Pompey would be willing to reduce it now he’s out of the first team is another possible topic of discussion.
Rangers are in dire straits at present, their season swiftly collapsing since the turn of the year despite such high hopes of knocking Celtic off their perch this term – with the atmosphere so low and a dire need to bolster their ranks in a way that they mean business, would a goalkeeper not getting game time in the English third tier be the right call?
