‘Has been insane’: Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld impresses fans with Belgium display

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld put in a fine display for Belgium last night as he helped his country see off England 2-0.

The Belgians ultimately had too much in the end for the Three Lions, with early goals from Youri Tielemans and Dries Mertens proving enough to see Roberto Martinez’s side home.

However, the second half saw England really make a good fist of things and Alderweireld, at the heart of the Belgium defence, proved to be an absolute rock all night.

Alderweireld has worked his way back into being one of the main men at Tottenham this season. Jose Mourinho seemingly putting his trust in the experienced defender alongside Eric Dier.

Alderweireld was largely responsible for Belgium’s clean sheet today. He dealt Grealish excellently, particularly by keeping him out of the box which is where he’s most dangerous, he also put in two crucial blocks against him that would’ve otherwise been goals, well done Toby 👏🏽
