Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno completed 90 minutes in the defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night, but have fans seen him play for them for the last time?
The Reds were dumped out of the FA Cup third round courtesy of a 2-1 loss at Molineux, as a weakened Liverpool team were well off the pace in the cup tie.
Manager Jurgen Klopp rotated heavily his team and that gave defender Moreno the chance to try impress in the XI.
But the 26-year-old turned in a poor display where he was often caught out against Wolves and he demonstrated why he’s fallen out of the best XI, with teammate Andy Robertson the firm number one left-back on Merseyside.
Moreno has played 141 times for Liverpool since he joined for £12million (BBC) in 2014 and may have even played for the last time.
The Spanish full-back is out of contract in the summer and it’s unlikely he will get the nod in the remaining Premier League or Champions League games of the season.
He’s been extremely inconsistent at Anfield and his defensive work has let him down.
Moreno has been open about the possibility of leaving Liverpool and it will be intriguing to see if any teams come in for him in January.
