Harvey Elliott was amongst those to send a message to Charlie Cresswell on Instagram after the Leeds United starlet made a landmark appearance on Saturday.
What’s the story?
After impressing against Fulham in the Carabao Cup in midweek, Cresswell kept his place as Marcelo Bielsa’s side faced West Ham at Elland Road.

The game proved to be a tough one for Leeds. Despite playing some superb football at times and taking the lead, the Whites were beaten 2-1 by the Hammers.
Once again however, Cresswell proved to be a shining light for Leeds. The 19-year-old did not look out of place in the slightest.

The game actually marked the defender’s Premier League debut. And understandably, he wanted to express his delight at getting a chance in the top-flight on social media.
Several Leeds players past and present sent messages of encouragement. But there was also a classy message from Elliott, who has been involved in England youth squads alongside the centre-back.

Future bright for Leeds as Cresswell proves himself
Cresswell’s emergence is a real positive for Leeds. He has shown that he is good enough to ply his trade in the Premier League.
Of course, he has more to prove if he wants to keep his spot. Leeds have the likes of Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Pascal Struijk to welcome back.
But those players coming back will know that Cresswell is now knocking on the door.
The teenager is going to be a first-team regular at some stage in the years to come, it seems.
