Harvey Elliott sends encouraging Instagram update to Liverpool fans

Harvey Elliott is likely to be sidelined until the new year after dislocating his ankle – but the Liverpool star’s Instagram will certainly encourage fans.

Having sparkled at Blackburn on loan last season – producing 18 goal involvements during 20-21 – Elliott was trusted with a starting XI role.

Coming on as a sub against Norwich, he then started the next three Premier League matches. The third, being against Leeds, where he got the injury.

Though somewhat innocuous, Elliott came out of it with a horrific injury that required surgery. He is now undergoing rehab, before a return.

While it was expected it would be some way into 2022 before we saw Elliott on the pitch again – his Instagram update will certainly prove encouraging.

Elliott posted a string of videos of exercises he was doing in the gym. Then, an actual written update alongside a clip in the pool.

Elliott could save Liverpool some money in January window

Mo Salah and Sadio Mane are set to jet off and represent Egypt and Senegal at the African Cup of Nations. They are due to leave on Boxing Day.

The tournament lasts until early February. It could mean Liverpool are without Salah, Mane and even Naby Keita for more than a month.

The January window is a chance for Liverpool to bring in some cover. But if Elliott can return ahead of schedule, then they might not need to.

His versatility allows him to play on either flank, or in Keita’s midfield role. If he can return, he saves Liverpool spending big on a new signing.
