Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun scored his second goal at England Under-21 level on Friday night.

And Liverpool talent – and Young Lions teammate – Harvey Elliott was one of many who praised him on Instagram.

The Gunners academy graduate, currently on loan at Middlesbrough, opened the scoring against Andorra’s U21s.

Just six minutes in, Balogun got on the end of Tino Livramento’s cross and steered the ball home.

Jacob Ramsey, Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Gordon also netted for Lee Carsley’s charges in Bournemouth.

Meanwhile, Albert Rosas scored what turned out to be a consolation for the visitors on the hour.

England’s 4-1 win moved them to within three points of Group G leaders Czech Republic in pursuit of a place at the European Championships.

Balogun posted a highlights reel on his Instagram with the caption “always an honour to represent – happy hour”.

And Elliott responded by posting three starry-eyed emojis:

Balogun – and Arsenal and Boro fans – will hope his goal will be the first of many between now and May.

The Gunners loanee has two goals and two assists in 15 appearances for the Teesside outfit.

Boro are just two points adrift of the Championship playoffs, so there’s a lot at stake over the next few weeks.

“Enjoying every minute of it”

Last week, Balogun spoke about his time on loan at Boro so far.

He told BBC Tees: “It’s my first loan spell. It’s very different from how I grew up in the Arsenal academy.

“I’m enjoying every minute of it. There’s so much I wasn’t aware of but being in that men’s football environment, now I have that opportunity and I’m trying to adsorb as much as I can.

“My first start was Man United, you can’t ask for more in terms of a stage to play on.

“Then Tottenham and now Chelsea, it’s great I’m able to still play against these teams, it’s really good.”
