Mo Salah was sensational for Liverpool once again on Sunday during the 2-2 draw with Manchester City – and Harvey Elliott has given his verdict.
Salah, 29, came into Sunday’s clash between last season’s first and third-placed sides in stunning form – scoring eight and two assists in eight games.
Pep Guardiola’s side that started the brighter, though. Kevin De Bruyne has a couple of good chances, while Phil Foden gave James Milner nightmares.
However, it was in the second half the deadlock was broken. Against the run of play, Salah laid a beautifully-weighted pass into Sadio Mane’s path.
Mane did the rest, tucking neatly under Ederson. City equalised soon after, Gabriel Jesus playing in Phil Foden who finished from the angle superbly.
City were not happy that James Milner was not shown a second yellow for a tackle on Bernardo Silva – and understandably so. He was subbed off.
Then, Salah produced an extraordinary moment. Salah, with his back to goal, picked the ball up outside of the box – before scoring.
Twisting and turning, he lashed a right-footed effort past Ederson. The game was not done, De Bruyne making it 2-2. Salah posted on Instagram.
Elliott on Salah: Liverpool star gets Instagram praise
A breathtaking match, that could have gone either way – City perhaps, slightly edging it. Milner, certainly, was lucky he did not see a red card.
Elliott might have been playing in the game, had he not dislocated his ankle against Leeds. Watching on from afar, he reacted to Salah’s display.
