Leeds United narrowly missed out on a move for Harvey Barnes in the summer. According to the Yorkshire Evening Post (27 mins), that is.
They claimed that Leeds were close to getting a deal over the line for the player, suggesting he was on his way to Thorp Arch. In fact, according to the Express and Star, he had even picked out a squad number at Leeds. However, he decided he wanted to stay closer to home and headed to West Bromwich Albion at the last minute.
Yesterday he certainly showed just why Leeds were so keen. Barnes scored his first Premier League goal for Leicester City, who have now recalled him from the West Brom loan spell. The goal, which has actually been harshly awarded to Conor Coady as own goal, was justification for a good season from the player so far.

He was excellent at West Brom and even scored against Leeds in a 4-1 win earlier in the campaign.
There could be hope. Claude Puel was the man who brought him back to the King Power. The Frenchman appears to be circling the drain at Leicester and perhaps Barnes could be out on loan again if a successor does not take to him in a similar manner.
Leeds fans would undoubtedly love that, as Barnes could be the missing piece of the jigsaw.
