Harvey Barnes has named Sean Longstaff as one of the most underrated players at Newcastle.
Speaking on Goal’s TikTok page, Barnes was playing a game of Word Association, and he was asked about a number of different things.
Barnes stated that Callum Wilson is the biggest maverick at Newcastle, while he named Bruno Guimaraes as the king of the nutmegs.
When it came to naming an underrated player at the club, Barnes didn’t hesitate when choosing Longstaff.

Sean Longstaff is underrated
Harvey Barnes spoke about his teammate.
“Underrated?” Barnes was asked
“Sean Longstaff,” Barnes said.
“Big games?”
“St James’ Park,” Barnes replied.
“Maverick?
“Callum Wilson.” Barnes said.
So underrated
We absolutely agree with Barnes here.
Longstaff has been brilliant for Newcastle over the past 18 months, but he’s almost never spoken about.
The likes of Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton get all sorts of praise for the work they do in the midfield, but Longstaff rarely gets any credit.
The fact that Longstaff hasn’t had an England call-up over the past 18 months and the likes of Kalvin Phillips have continuously gotten into the squad is a borderline joke.
The same can be said of Joe Willock actually.
Newcastle have struggled this season compared to last term, but we mustn’t forget that the Magpies were the fourth best team in the country last year, and aside from a select few, their players didn’t get all that much credit.
Longstaff is a player who deserves a lot more credit for how well he has played for Newcastle, and hopefully, he will get his recognition at some point and be rewarded with an England call-up.
In a team full of underrated players, Longstaff may be the one player who gets the least amount of credit in comparison to how good he has actually been for the Magpies.
