Tottenham Hotspur fans felt that Nuno’s decision to take off Nile John at half-time against Pacos De Ferreira last night was harsh.
Harsh decision?
John was played out of position on the wing in the first half of the contest, and then was hooked at half-time with Tottenham 1-0 down.
The teenager didn’t have a massive influence on the match, but he was hardly the worst performer in a Tottenham shirt out there.
And many Spurs fans felt that Harry Winks should actually have been withdrawn before John, with the youngster dropping in to take his central midfield position.
Disappointing display
Unfortunately for Nuno his change didn’t really spark Spurs into life in the second period either.
Tottenham just never really got going in the game, and they looked a disjointed outfit, which was understandable given they had a number of debutants playing.
Tottenham ultimately fell to a 1-0 defeat, which could still be repairable in the second leg next week, which will be played at their home ground.
Whether John will be selected again remains to be seen.
But if the youngster does start he may well be hoping that he gets longer than 45 minutes next time.
