"Harsh”: Leeds fans upset with team selection against Southampton
Leeds Untied have announced their starting XI for Tuesday’s match away to Southampton – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter are not happy that their highly-rated youngster Pascal Struijk has dropped down to the bench.
The Whites travel to St Mary’s this evening for the penultimate game of the Premier League season, and will be in action in front of a reduced Southampton crowd.
Leeds go into the match on a two-game winning streak, and there is still a possibility they could sneak into the European positions if they win their final two league matches.
Manager Marcelo Bielsa has decided to make three changes to his XI against Southampton.
Kiko Casilla, Liam Cooper and Rodrigo Moreno have come into the team in place of Illan Meslier, Struijk and Mateusz Klich.
A selection of Leeds supporters on social media are frustrated that Bielsa has decided to drop Struijk.
The 21-year-old centre-back has been a colossus in the heart of defence during the past few weeks, but has made way for club captain Cooper.
His partnership alongside centre-half Diego Llorente has caught the eye, and it’s certainly an area of the pitch where there is plenty of competition for places.
Here are some Leeds fans discussing Struijk’s omission:
Harsh on struijk. Hopefully it’s just a couple of farewell games for Cooper

Shocking decision dropping Struijk for Cooper. Captain or not, we ply much better with Llorente and Pascal. Can’t understand upsetting a solid Cb partnership.

Think Struijk should have started over Cooper

Disgusting Struijk dropped, our best central defender won’t hear otherwise

Dropping Struijk is a joke as well.
