The international break has given Tottenham a little breathing space, but there is no doubting manager Mauricio Pochettino is enduring a crisis right now and desperately needs to perform a U-turn with his side in the next few weeks.
Spurs will be right up against it if they lose at home to Watford at the weekend and it’s a pivotal fixture for them to try get three Premier League points.
The North London club have just one victory in their last six games across all competitions and look a team devoid of confidence.
Pochettino needs leaders on the pitch to pull the team out of the mud and Harry Winks is someone that can stand up to the task.
The midfielder was brilliant for England during the 6-0 away win over Bulgaria on Monday night, which was overshadowed by racial behaviour.
It did require calm heads on the pitch though and the Spurs pass master was so composed in dictating the match from the base of midfield.
Winks certainly made Gareth Southgate’s England team tick and it’s something he’s done at club level before.
Spurs need the central midfielder to get his foot on the ball to help dominate possession, as the team have looked all over the place defensively in recent games and have struggled to get a grip on matches.
The 23-year-old have the ability to help pull the strings against Watford with his efficiency in the centre of the park and Pochettino should definitely start him.
