Christian Eriksen did not leave Tottenham during the summer transfer window and that is something that looks to have pleased Harry Winks greatly.

As per the Evening Standard, Winks was keen to point out how happy he is that the Dane is sticking around in north London – until January at the earliest.

When asked if the squad was relieved Eriksen was staying, Winks said: “Yes, of course.Christian’s a fantastic player, there’s no doubt about that. He’s been one of our most impressive performers over the last few years.

“Christian’s a top person and whatever he decides, that’s up to him. All we can say is how well he’s performed for us this season and how professional he is. He’s fantastic.”

TBR’s View – Winks and Eriksen vital to help Tottenham unlock deeper defences

Tottenham have remarkably escaped unbeaten – with two 2-2 draws – from away matches against Manchester City and Arsenal so far this season.

But the concerns have really formed around their struggles to break down deeper defences in home matches. It was a real struggle to come back and beat Aston Villa 3-1 and Spurs of course went down 1-0 to Newcastle.

Eriksen is the best player Tottenham have in terms of unlocking the door against massed ranks, and the guile of Winks at the back of midfield is also crucial.

Those are the games where the running power of Moussa Sissoko isn’t anywhere near as valuable and the onus is on patience and quality to get the job done. A settled Eriksen will be invaluable in terms of that.
