Harry Winks has reiterated that Mauricio Pochettino is the right man for the Tottenham Hotspur job, Goal reports.

Tottenham are currently in a mini-crisis; languishing in mid-table, knocked out of the EFL Cup by Colchester and humiliated by conceding seven goals at home to Bayern Munich. Inevitably, there have been some questions asked about Pochettino’s future.

Discussing the speculation surrounding Pochettino’s future, Winks has thrown his full support behind his manager. Referencing his past success, Winks believes Pochettino can turn things around at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Winks said (via Goal): “He’s been fantastic ever since he’s been at the club and taken the club to new heights. At the moment we are going through a bit of a rough patch. That happens in football, every club goes through it.

“It’s important we stand up as men and get through these dark times, and hopefully we can get back to playing well and winning as much as we can. In the last six years we have come such a long way, we have become a title-challenging side. But we haven’t shown it this season, we have only shown it in parts.”

TBR’s view

The problems at Tottenham cannot be ignored. There appear to be issues behind the scenes and it is hard to tell whether the players, the coaching or the board is at fault.

But loyalty is a two-way thing. Pochettino has had many opportunities to jump ship while at the helm with Spurs. Now things have gone rough, Spurs need to show Pochettino some loyalty and back him to get out of this hole.

It is up to Winks – and the other Tottenham players – to play for their manager. This can turn things around for the North London club.
