Harry Redknapp has told The Daily Mail that he wished he had the chance to manage Liverpool at one stage in his career, as the curtains looked to have closed on his 34-year spell on management.

Now 72, Redknapp has managed the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth, West Ham United and Southampton in a glittering career that began way back in 1983. He has clocked up 1395 matches, winning the FA Cup in 2007-08.

But Redknapp has since entered punditry and even reality TV, winning the last edition of ITV’s ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here’. He won the 2009-10 Premier League Manager of the Year award, but last managed Birmingham City back in 2017.

Redknapp, who came within an inch of managing England before Roy Hodgson was hired, claims he wished he had the chance to manage Liverpool and has backed Jurgen Klopp’s side to win the Premier League title this term.

“If I had one club I’d love to have managed it would have been Liverpool. I loved them,” Redknapp said. “I can see them winning the league this year. Give them the title and give it to them now.”

TBR’s view – Do Liverpool have enough to hold on?

The key for Liverpool, now, is avoiding defeat in the clashes against Manchester City. The first meeting between the two sides takes place at Anfield on November 10, and The Reds are likely to be favourites for that clash.

But Klopp will know, that with an eight-point advantage over City, the key is to avoid defeat in both games and the chances are that Liverpool will win the title. The second clash between the two sides is at The Etihad in April.
