Harry Redknapp suggests English ace can become new Luka Modric for Tottenham

Harry Redknapp has told Alan Brazil’s Sports Breakfast Show on Thursday (09:10am) that Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish could be Tottenham’s newest version of Luka Modric, if he joined the north London club this summer.

Grealish, 24, has been in stunning form for Villa despite the Midlands side sitting in a lowly 18th place in the Premier League. In 36 league and cup appearances, he has had a hand in 17 goals – scoring nine and creating eight.

The soon-to-be England international told Sky Sports in 2018 of his “disappointment” at failing to secure a move to Tottenham – after Spurs had seen a £25million bid rejected. Now, he is worth much more than that.

But former Tottenham boss Redknapp has urged Spurs to sign the playmaker regardless of his price tag, suggesting he can be the next version of Modric or Christian Eriksen in Tottenham’s side – if he joined.

“Yeah Grealish for sure, that is what they lack,” Redknapp said, when asked by Jamie O’Hara if Spurs should sign Grealish.”We had Luka [Modric] in there, Pochettino had Eriksen, people like that can make them play – people that can make them tick. They need to recruit a couple of players in the summer.”

TBR’s view – Would Grealish entertain Tottenham move?

Premier League sides such as Chelsea, Manchester United and even Manchester City have been linked with a move for Grealish – and all sit in the Champions League spots, though the latter may be banned from the tournament.

If Champions League football is on offer, you would think Grealish would jump at the chance of testing himself at that level. But would start in a Chelsea or Manchester United side?

So, would he entertain a Spurs move? He would certainly have more of a chance of starting for Spurs, and has obviously shown with his 2018 comments that he would be keen on joining Tottenham. Europe could be the key.
