Harry Redknapp has already predicted what Tottenham’s players will do when Thomas Frank is sacked

Ange Postecoglou was sacked by Tottenham last week, and his players made it very clear how they felt about that decision.

Indeed, Micky van de Ven spoke out against the decision to sack Postecoglou, while other Tottenham players are unhappy about this decision too.

There’s been an outpouring of support for Postecoglou since he was let go, but, speaking to Hayters TV, Harry Redknapp isn’t buying a lot of what the Spurs squad are saying.

Indeed, Redknapp says that footballers are always quick to hail an outgoing manager, but, when push comes to shove, they don’t put the work in when it matters.

Redknapp says he’s seen this one too many times, and he thinks it’ll be exactly the same story if Thomas Frank is sacked in the future.

Harry Redknapp makes Thomas Frank departure prediction

Redknapp spoke about how the Spurs squad has reacted to the departure of Postecoglou.

The former Spurs boss reckons this outpouring of emotion is largely performative, claiming that the exact same thing will happen when Thomas Frank eventually goes.

“It’s football that’s what footballers do! ‘Oh we loved the previous manager.’ So why didn’t you try harder so you don’t finish fourth from bottom?” Redknapp asked

“It’s the same message. The King is dead, long live The King. They all come out and say the manager was great. The new manager comes and he’ll be great and then when he goes it’ll be ‘sorry to see him gone.’ That’s football, you can’t take any notice of what they say,” Redknapp said.

Heung-Min Son’s managerial tributes

As harsh as Redknapp’s words are here, he’s absolutely right here.

Indeed, whenever a manager is sacked by Tottenham, the same sorts of messages are sent out.

Not to single out an individual, but Heung-Min Son has been at Spurs for a number of managerial sackings, and he reacts in the same way almost every single time.

After Antonio Conte was sacked, Son said this during international duty:

“He is a world-class manager, we had a great journey together, I thank him a lot.

“I do not know how other players are thinking about him, but I’m sorry to him.

“I should have shown more but I couldn’t. I couldn’t help the team and I feel responsible as he left the club.”

Meanwhile, over the weekend, Son posted a similar message for Ange Postecoglou.

Then, a few years prior, Son posted another Instagram message after Mauricio Pochettino’s sacking, captioned:

“Needless to say how much I thank this man. Words are powerless to express my gratitude. I have learned a lot from you not only in football, but in life. Good luck in your future and I wish you all the best.”

As Redknapp says, this is a pattern that continuously happens at Tottenham, and while Frank is only just getting started at Spurs, based on recent history, it wouldn’t be a shock if the Dane was receiving these sorts of messages from his players in a couple of years’ time.
