Harry Redknapp claims Tottenham will finish at least third

Harry Redknapp is predicting that Tottenham will finish no lower than third in the Premier League this season and feels they are in a great position as a club.

Spurs have had a mixed start to the new campaign, with five points from their opening four league matches.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have suffered a shock home defeat to Newcastle United, but on the flip side beat Aston Villa as well recording draws in away games against Manchester City and Arsenal.

The North London club drew their derby match against Arsenal 2-2 at the weekend and now have an international break before they host Crystal Palace next.

Ex-Spurs manager Redknapp is confident about his former side and feels any criticism about them is misplaced.

“They’ve got a great stadium, a fantastic training ground and they’ve got a good team, a real good team of good players,” Redknapp told talkSPORT.

“I don’t see them finishing any worst than third again this year. They’ll be there and maybe this will be their year to win a cup.

“There’s nothing wrong at Tottenham, they’re in great shape.”

Spurs certainly haven’t been at their best in the first month of the season, but it’s far too early to judge and they should be closer to their maximum after the international break.

They definitely do look a little short of options in a couple of areas of the pitch and questioned are being asked of manager Pochettino.

But it’s more or less the same group that reached the Champions League final last year and they are capable of beating anyone on their day.

With Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League, it looks like the rest of the division will be fighting over third.

Spurs may consider themselves to be the third best team in the division, but there is plenty of competition this year in the Premier League and they need to try work out their best XI.
