Harry Maguire backed for Tottenham move amid Manchester United issues
Dean Saunders has told talkSPORT that Harry Maguire is better than any centre-back Tottenham Hotspur have got, claiming that he would go straight into Antonio Conte’s team in North London.
Maguire’s future at Manchester United looks to be uncertain. He has only made six appearances in the Premier League this season, with his latest appearance coming at Wolves at the weekend as he came on for the final moments of the contest.
There has been speculation Maguire could leave. The Daily Mail reports that Erik ten Hag wants to keep the England international. However, he wants to hold onto him for depth.

Of course, the 29-year-old is the club captain who has been a stalwart for the Three Lions for a number of years now. So being a squad player may not suit the defender at all.
Saunders was asked where Maguire could look to go if he was to leave Old Trafford. And he immediately suggested that he would be a smart signing for Tottenham.
“He’s better than what Spurs have got. Straight away, if he was at Spurs, he’d be in the team tomorrow,” he told talkSPORT.
Tottenham absolutely need to improve their defensive options. Cristian Romero has been an outstanding signing for Spurs. And he has just returned after helping Argentina win the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Eric Dier forced his way back into the England fold following Antonio Conte’s appointment. And Ben Davies was superb in the first few months of Conte’s tenure.
However, Dier’s form has dipped once again. And Davies’ limitations as a centre-back have been exposed more recently. Clement Lenglet meanwhile, has not exactly been an inspired signing on loan.
Maguire is someone who thrives in a back three. And it is easy to forget that he was one of the Premier League’s best centre-backs when Manchester United decided to spend £80 million on him.
He had a very decent World Cup, with Kieran Trippier suggesting that he is a ‘fantastic‘ leader. So there is no question that he has the ability to be a lot better than he has been for his club over the last couple of years.
He may even be an upgrade on what Tottenham have. But given what United would want for him, surely a lot of Spurs fans would be extremely concerned if they ended up making a move.
