Harry Kane told to reject Spurs and join Arsenal as £54m release clause revealed, the reason isn’t trophies

If Harry Kane does make a sensational return to the Premier League in the event that he leaves Bayern Munich, which club he joins will be fascinating to witness.

Recently, sources told TBR Football that Kane will not sign for Arsenal or another major London rival like Chelsea as a future return to England is on his radar — with the star striker’s £54 million release clause due to become active in January next year.

While the 31-year-old is happy at Bayern Munich, the sole reason why he would like to return to the Premier League one day is to break Alan Shearer’s record and become the division’s all-time highest goalscorer.

With Kane just being 48 goals away from surpassing Shearer’s longstanding record, it would be a realistic possibility for him to make history if he does decide to return to his homeland.

Being a Tottenham Hotspur legend, it would come as no surprise if a romantic return to N17 becomes Harry Kane’s automatic choice if he does fancy playing in the Premier League again.

Harry Kane told why he should sign for Arsenal and reject Tottenham

But Paul Merson claimed that the one reason why Kane should sign for Arsenal instead of Tottenham is because Mikel Arteta’s side would give him a better chance of beating Alan Shearer’s record.

Merson initially claimed on Sky Sports News: “I would go Harry Kane [as the striker Arsenal should sign]. I’d pay the £60-odd million [£54 million release clause] for Harry Kane.”

Merson went on to add about Kane: “If he wins the league, which he should win the league with Bayern Munich now but when he does that, I think that’s it. If he thinks he can come back and beat [Alan] Shearer’s record, I don’t see the point in coming back to Tottenham.”

“I mean, there’s no point in coming back to Tottenham just to maybe have a chance of beating that and I don’t think he’ll have much chance of beating that at Tottenham as much as he will at Arsenal.”

It is important to note that there is a gentleman’s agreement between Tottenham and Bayern about Kane where the German giants would inform the Lilywhites if they decided to let their legendary number nine leave the club.

With Kane reportedly convincing Mathys Tel to join Tottenham, Spurs remain firmly in his heart despite the Bayern striker focused on life in Germany.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has already given his Harry Kane verdict

Ahead of Arsenal’s clash against Bayern in the Champions League last April, Mikel Arteta heaped praise on Kane for the glittering career that he has had.

Arteta said via BBC Sport: “His consistency. When you look at this numbers over the past 10 years they are unbelievable. He can score in many different ways. He has got the service and the players around him as well to provide those opportunities as well. Here’s what we have to try to avoid.”

Kane has scored 366 goals throughout his career and his pedigree is unquestionable.

But it seems virtually impossible that the England captain ever decides to make as controversial a move as going to Arsenal.

While several Gunners supporters would agree with Paul Merson’s claim about Kane being the perfect striker to lead them to glory, such statements seem like mere pipe dreams.
