Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has told the Evening Standard that he hopes to be back in action for Spurs in April as he targets a spot in the England squad for Euro 2020.
Jose Mourinho’s charges have been struggling in the absence of the 26-year-old, who tore his hamstring tendon on New Year’s Day in a Premier League game against Southampton.
The Tottenham head coach previously claimed that Kane would probably not have been back until the penultimate game of 2019-20, against Leicester City (Football London).
However, the Spurs talisman began outdoor training ahead of schedule last week, prompting Mourinho to suggest that he could be fit for the final “three, four or five” matches of the season.

In conversation with the Evening Standard, Kane revealed that he sees himself as “definitely” participating at the Euros, barring “something pretty drastic”, and also shared when he hoped he would be back for Spurs.
“In my head, I am definitely at the Euros,” Kane told the outlet. “Unless something pretty drastic happens between now and then, I’ll be there.
“I’m still not back training with the first team, but I’m working hard in the gym, I’m getting stronger all the time.
“We’re talking a few more weeks, and I’ll be playing again. I don’t want to make a prediction for which game I might be back, but I am hoping somewhere between the start and the middle of April.”
TBR View:
Kane has suffered his fair share of injuries in recent years but has shown a remarkable drive and ability to recuperate ahead of schedule.
With Tottenham in the midst of a crisis up front now that Son Heung-min is also out injured, an early return for Kane would be a huge boost, given a European place is at stake.
On the other hand, there is also concern amongst some fans that Kane risks burnout or further injury if he returns ahead of schedule and then goes on to play for England.
However, Kane has never been one to shirk the challenge of delivering for club and country, and once cleared by medical staff to return to action, then there shouldn’t be a problem.
