Harry Kane shares what Bayern were told to do to Arsenal at half-time tonight

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has now been sharing what Thomas Tuchel told his side to do against Arsenal in the second half.

Perhaps in a similar fashion to Sunday’s defeat to Aston Villa, Mikel Arteta’s side failed to build upon their stellar showing in the first 45 minutes.

Arsenal weren’t exactly an attacking threat in the opening exchanges, but it felt like a mature performance in a European quarter-final.

No early goal conceded, and there was a footing to be more expansive in the later stages.

However, that’s when Bayern ended up taking control.

The likes of Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka couldn’t have their usual influence, no matter how hard they tried.

And by the time Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard came to rescue the tie, it just didn’t feel as if Arsenal could mount any pressure.

That being said, it seems as if Thomas Tuchel’s half-time instructions worked pretty perfectly.

Harry Kane says Bayern were told to up their pressing at half-time against Arsenal

Harry Kane was speaking to TNT Sports in the immediate aftermath of the game and explained what had been said.

The England captain recognised that the first half was a bit nervy, but eventually felt as Bayern should have killed the game off.

He explained: “The first half was a bit cagey, both teams don’t want to concede early.

“We said at half time to up the tempo, up the pressing, be better with the ball and that’s what we did.

“We created a lot more chances, had a couple off the post, even towards the end there we could have finished it off and made it a bit easier on ourselves but overall these games are tough and you just have to find a way to get through them.”

The loss will hurt Arsenal and their fans right now, but it ultimately just felt as if Bayern’s experience shone through.

Over the two ties, there was very little between the two teams, perhaps other than Tuchel’s experience of having been here and done it before.

Arteta doesn’t deserve to be criticised, nor does his team, and tonight will be a real learning curve.

All that being said, Arsenal fans have all been saying the same thing about Takehiro Tomiyasu after the game.
