Harry Kane was asked about the fireworks Marseille fans set off before Tottenham played them in the Champions League last night.

We have seen some fans try the approach in the past to wake up their opposition in the middle of the night before a big game.

But it did not have the desired effect as Spurs won out 2-1 thanks to a late Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg goal to top the group.

Kane was asked by Sky Sports whether he heard the fireworks and whether they woke him or his teammates up the night before the match.

Kane asked about fireworks pre-match

He said: “I heard the first lot go off.

“There were some other ones at four o’clock apparently, which I didn’t hear thankfully.

“But that’s part and parcel of football, I guess, and they have a great fan base. The atmosphere was incredible here.

“I’m sure they’ll do anything to win but thankfully it was our night tonight.”

Kane also made a cheeky mention of the fireworks on Instagram after getting the job done and ensuring Champions League football for 2023.

The England captain is no stranger to big games and huge atmospheres and Spurs came through one last night to ensure qualification.

They do need to make sure they start games more quickly, but their fitness and fighting spirit has been in evidence in recent games to get important results.
